Well here is a different take on a an unfortunately all to common tale of allegations of inappropriate sexual relations between a police officer and a confidential informant. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that allegations of serious corruption relating to informants and Philadelphia police department have come to light.
Reading allegations such as is frustrating because regardless of the truth the matter, the simple fact remains that had sufficient systems been in place within the agency, false allegations are easily disproved or such activities become all but impossible for an officer to become involved in.
At HSM Training we have spent years researching and developing systems that ensure human sources (confidential informants) can be managed safely and more productively. We have identified steps that agencies can take to protect their officers, the public and the reputation of their agency. We have written much of this down in books so the information can be easily shared and we provided training to ensure officers engaged in managing informants can do so safely.
We also provide full audits of how effective and agency’s structures are for managing informants. We provide the agency with a comprehensive report identifying any existing risks and how to manage them.
Alternatively, you could just carry on doing what your doing an wait until an inappropriate relationship or some other corrupt activity develops between one of your officers and an informant. And until that happens continue getting the limited amount of information you are currently getting from existing informants.
